Scenic northwest Montana. On the way to the National Bison Range.
In my internet searches I found a site on gold prospecting in England. I am quite interested in the gold to be found in England as I am planning an extended visit there to spend time with my niece. We plan to spend some time in the country and I am drawn by the lure of chasing the elusive mineral.
I am receiving the newsletter from Kit Andrews and wanted to share this post with all my prospecting friends. Please drop Kit a note and let him know what a bunch of friendly prospectors we Americans are -

"Hi there all you washers, prospectors and those who have never experienced the ‘witchery of water’ I’ve have received many emails reference my previous broadcast on ‘how much gold can I expect to find’.
This time the question is “What is it that keeps drawing me back to the water”?
Well, lets look at this question; Is it the gold…, the thrill of the hunt…, the camaraderie when I meet other gravel washers?
Is it the solitude and quiet reflection that can be obtained …, or being in the great outdoors in some of the most beautiful parts of this ‘Sceptred Isle’. Or could it just be the whole ambience of the adventure?
I think I can honestly say, I don’t really know what the lure of the water is for me, it could be none of the above, and conversely it could be all of the above. One thing I can say for sure, is not to take our hobby to seriously, it is a magical pastime, and to loose the magic of it by becoming to serious would be a sad day.
Although I’ve titled this ‘The Witchery of Water’ it is not an original thought, but the sentiments are the same, as it conveys the essence of gold prospecting quite well. Those four words capture the sorcery that the smallest stream or brook weaves on panners and prospectors alike. Like most folk with gold fever, I can't pass even the smallest of streams without peering into its depths, hoping to spot some recognizable signs of the yellow stuff.
Any gold bearing stream, has an almost mystical charisma for those who seek to recover from its depths its noble metal. Many have sought to do so, with varying degrees of success. I’ve heard of sane rational panners, if indeed we are sane and rational, talk of the rivers gods and water fairies lending weight to the fact that the water does indeed casts a spell."
